This Greensleeves clawhammer banjo tab provides two progressive ways to approach the tune. The SIMPLY SONGS arrangement gives beginners an accessible route into the melody, lyrics and chord movement, while the Standard TAB introduces fuller chord shapes, fifth-string drone notes, hammer-ons and additional rhythmic detail for players ready to develop the arrangement.

Start with the SIMPLY SONGS version—a clear, approachable and easy-to-read banjo tab with larger notation and a simplified arrangement. It is designed for beginners, visual learners and players who find traditional banjo tablature difficult to read.
When ready for an extra challenge, progress to the Standard TAB, which provides a more complete clawhammer banjo arrangement with additional notes, techniques and musical detail.
Together, the two versions provide a clear path from understanding and playing the essential tune to developing a richer arrangement.

Developing your arrangement
Start by following the colour-coded melody in SIMPLY SONGS, keeping the lilting 6/8 pulse steady as you hold the fifth-fret barre and reach the notes at frets 6 and 7. The playing tips and chord diagrams show how to retain that barre as the harmony moves through C, F and G7. In the Standard TAB, concentrate on fitting the 6–5 and 7–5 pull-offs evenly around the chord brushes and fifth-string notes, keeping the familiar “dilly dilly” melody clear.
