Welcome to Banjo Adventures!
Learning how to make music on the banjo is a wonderful journey, and you’ve already taken the first step. Don’t worry about being nervous or “not making it”—this is about positivity, progress, and enjoying the ride.
My approach is simple: we’ll take things slowly, step by step, just as I learned myself. I’ll show you the path, but it’s up to you to walk it—regularly, in small bursts. The formula is straightforward: Learn → Practice → Repetition → Rest.
Don’t try to cram this course into one day. Instead, aim for short, focused sessions—about 20 minutes at a time. That’s where real progress happens.
I’ll be with you every step of the way on this adventure.
About This Video Lesson
In this first outdoor lesson, we dive straight into the most important thing — timing — and break down what it actually means before moving on to tuning your 5-string banjo, learning your first clawhammer rhythm, and shaping your frailing hand. Along the way, we embrace real-life moments (like relocating mid-lesson because of a dodgy-smelling bench) and keep things relaxed, honest, and fun.
There’s no music theory, no perfection, and no need to read notation — just a simple, down-to-earth way to start playing right now. So grab your banjo, jump in, and let’s make some music together.
