TIER: 5 TRAILBLAZER
Add Swing And Flair to Your Playing
This is where your banjo journey takes a new turn toward rhythm, style, and expression. In this module, we’ll step off the beaten track and explore two exciting paths: Waltz Time and Embellishments.
Think of Waltz Time as learning to dance with your banjo — a gentle, flowing rhythm in 3/4 time that adds grace and movement to your playing. It’s that swaying, heartbeat feel that makes every tune breathe with emotion.
Then, as we move into Embellishments, imagine decorating your sound like icing a cake. Your solid rhythm is the sponge, and now you’ll add the flavour — slides, hammer-ons, and pull-offs that make your music sparkle with colour and personality.
Together, these lessons will help you find your own musical voice — giving your clawhammer playing swing, flair, and that unmistakable sense of adventure that defines every great banjo trailblazer.
