If you're new to the banjo, you might enjoy my Complete Beginner’s Guide to Learning Banjo, where I walk through everything you need to know to start your banjo adventure.

Welcome To Banjo Adventures

I’ve just made a new lesson where we take a slightly different approach to learning the 5-string banjo.

Instead of chasing speed or perfection, we focus on something much more important…

So many adults try to sound polished too early. We tighten up, overthink every motion, and expect ourselves to play like seasoned musicians from day one.

But the banjo (especially in frailing style) is incredibly forgiving.

In this lesson, we use New River Train to explore how relaxing into the rhythm, allowing small imperfections, and focusing on comfort can actually make you sound better.

If you’ve ever felt clumsy, slow, or not “good enough,” this one’s for you.

And as always, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
